Tooth-Colored, Durable, Onlays & Inlays
CEREC restorations are used to enhance smiles in just one visit, reducing injections, drillings, and time. Chipped, crooked or discolored teeth can be repaired with beautiful CEREC porcelain crowns, onlays or veneers in a single visit.
Dr. Wehman explains how he uses CEREC technology in his practice to
make beautiful restorations.
Advantages of CEREC
Crowns can take up to three visits and the use of a temporary to fully restore your tooth. With CEREC technology this can be done in a single visit while you are in the chair! CEREC's precision 3-D technology allows us to create a customized crown that fits your teeth perfectly and is completely biocompatible with your own teeth structure.

This patient's smile was improved using CEREC porcelain crowns and veneers.

This patient's old metal fillings were replaced with very natural-looking and durable CEREC crowns.
With the CEREC system you eliminate the need for a temporary crown. Many teeth become sensitive from wearing a temporary crown and some of those teeth require root canals to alleviate that sensitivity.
CEREC restorations are milled from a single block of high-quality ceramic, a substance that is particularly compatible with the body and that has the same characteristics as normal, healthy dental enamel. CEREC ceramic expands in the same way as teeth, and also because it comes from a single block, a CEREC restoration is less prone to cracks and flaws than other types of restoration.
Dr. Wehman recommends CEREC restorations due to their durability; typically CEREC restorations he has seen, even after several years, are in the same condition as when first placed.
Also, the materials are chemically bonded to your tooth, so as much healthy tooth is saved as possible while providing you with a dental restoration that strengthens your tooth.
Inlays and onlays are a type of filling made in a laboratory (in our case in the in-office CEREC laboratory) that are used as a restoration of a broken-down tooth or may replace an existing large filling. Inlays are designed for tooth damage affecting the indented portion of the top of the tooth and onlays are for more extensive damage. They are used when the damage is not severe enough to require a crown.
The CEREC system allows us to create beautiful tooth-colored inlays and onlays from strong porcelain that match the color and appearance of the rest of your teeth. It creates the same translucence, color and brilliance of your natural healthy teeth.
Inlays and onlays can sometimes take several visits and require temporaries; using the CEREC system we can apply these in one visit, often in less than an hour.
I have had several dental procedures performed by Dr. Wehman this year (root canal, crown, porcelain/ceramic onlays and veneers). I was amazed at the new technology he used. He was able to make the crowns and veneers right there in his office all in one visit, without having to send anything off to a lab, and they are beautiful! I'm very pleased with all the work and dealings I've had at Dr. Wehman's office, and I highly recommend them.”

Inlays and onlays are fillings, custom-made in a laboratory, that are fitted to a cavity in a tooth and cemented in place. For larger cavities, they are stronger and more durable than a regular filling. They can also be used in some cases for a broken-down tooth instead of a crown.
